New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday delivered a strong message following the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) decisive victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, calling the mandate a clear rejection of “appeasement politics” and a vote for development, stability, and law-and-order.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Modi said the people of Bihar had “once again protected the state from returning to jungle raj and katta sarkar,” referring to previous periods of instability and crime. He hailed the results as a victory for democracy and credited the women and youth of Bihar for shaping the new political equation, which he termed the “M-Y formula—Mahila and Yuva.”
Sharp Attack on Congress
In a pointed criticism of the Congress party, Modi said the election outcome reflected the growing disconnect between Congress leadership and the aspirations of the people. He accused the party of drifting towards “constant negativity,” claiming it had failed to present any constructive vision for the country.
Modi also warned that the Congress may face “further internal divisions” if it continued to follow what he described as a politics of obstruction and pessimism. He added that the party’s allies were beginning to lose confidence in its leadership, which he termed a “serious sign of political decline.”
The Prime Minister also mocked the Congress by suggesting it was turning into a confused ideological mix, indirectly implying that its shifting political positions were alienating even its supporters.
Broader Political Impact
Modi said the Bihar results had energised the NDA for upcoming state elections across the country and reinforced people’s belief in governance-driven politics. According to him, voters had clearly chosen development, welfare schemes, and strong leadership over old identity-based political formulas.
He added that the victory was not just a political win but a reflection of people’s trust in the NDA’s long-term agenda for growth, social justice, and national stability.
Congress Faces Tough Questions
Within the opposition, the Bihar loss has intensified demands for internal reform, strategy overhaul, and stronger leadership. With the Congress securing only a handful of seats, political observers believe the party is likely to face renewed pressure from allies and its own cadre.
A Message for the Road Ahead
Modi concluded his speech by urging the NDA leadership and workers to stay connected with people at the grassroots, promising that the alliance would continue to prioritize governance, transparency, and development in Bihar and elsewhere.
